EverGrain Golden Oak Vibrance Deck in St. Louis by Archadeck

In our first blog post of this year, we depicted five distinct outdoor living design trends for 2013:

-value and function

-reduced maintenance

-sustainability

-accessories

-and complete customization

There’s a mindset about sustainability and green initiatives today.  “Green” is in.  “Wasteful” is out.  So let’s focus now on sustainability in Archadeck’s designs and structures.

Environmental consciousness for home improvement projects — inside and out — has dramatically risen in recent years.

And consumers have a preference for sustainable products, whenever possible, for outdoor living designs with wood, composite and vinyl.

Wood is a renewable resource that is strong, nontoxic, biodegradable and beautiful. When natural woods are harvested from intelligently managed forests, lumber is a sustainable resource and a perfect choice for decks, screened porches, pergolas and gazebos.

Composites blend waste from wood fibers and recycled plastics.  Millions of pounds of recycled materials are used for all sorts of things including building materials for decks, screened porches and other outdoor living structures.

Vinyls, too, are durable and low maintenance building materials that save natural resources with waste-free, clean manufacturing processes.

Numerous companies such as Timbertech, AZEK, EverGrain, Fiberon, Trex (and others) provide composite and/or vinyl materials bringing recycled products and sustainable practices to the decking industry.
